Dead Cat Hat: Original San Francisco Bay Area music with a flare for the eclectic. Live shows draw on the band’s seven years of harmony vocal and guitar-based rock that reaches far and wide. Additional instrumentation including trombone, keyboards, melodica, and samples taken from the band’s studio recordings take this four-piece to surprising lengths beyond the usual. Twists and turns throughout a typical set might evoke 1980s era songs by The Clash, Tex-Mex Americana, disco-funk, prog rock instrumentals alongside more modern alternative rock music. Musical influences: The band’s interests span from classical western music, and American jazz in addition to classic rock and roll from the twentieth century. Of particular note are the individual members’ affinity with 1960s era music by The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, 1970s era David Bowie, Jeff Beck, Hot Chocolate, and from the 1980s music by The Clash, Elvis Costello, The Jam, etc.
