Best known in the Philippines as the “Queen of Lounge” and the “Livewire” is a funny and talented lady from Cebu City who is now based here in the U.S. and has made a name for herself in the local entertainment industry as a total performer, singer and comedian.
Awayan started singing at a tender age of 12 and competed in singing contests. She became a folk singer that gave her the opportunity to sing professionally until she joined local bands in her community to help out her family. her strong determination to pursue her singing career forced her to move to Manila in 1989. There, she started singing back-ups for known artists, including Randy Santiago when the latter was then the “Concert King.” Santiago offered her the opportunity to form the “Big Thing Band.” The group started performing throughout Manila, doing campus tours, TV shows and concerts at the Music Museum.
Angelica Del Carmen, South San Francisco’s “Party Diva” Energetic, powerful versatile vocalist. The passion to fulfill her desire for her music was finally achieved when she joined the Side Street Band . She got her wish when she performed regularly at Siete Pecados, Intercontinental Hotel, and practically all the five star hotels in Manila.
Being adventurous in nature, Angelica then decided to come to the US to see the potential of the place. She first stayed in Miami, Florida and in a few months she went to Pensacola, Florida where she met and joined Banana Republic band, one of the hottest bands in NW Florida. She also did solo gigs in the Panhandle area. Few years after that she and her family decided to move to California. First stayed in Los Angeles and in one of the weekends she flew to San Francisco where was noticed followed by an offer to perform at Edna’s Ichiban Library . The chance was too much to ignore, and so she agreed … rest is history.
Her passion for music and love for the arts is what drives her to take new challenges in her singing career. Angelica… with her enormous talent, charm and ability to connect continuously entertains and captivated her audience. She now resides and performs in Las Vegas.
