THE BONAFIDES — LIVE AT THE MARQUEE CLUB
Thursday, August 20
Doors & Dinner: 5:30 PM • Show: 6:30 PM
Empress Marquee Club • Vallejo
Get ready for a Thursday night filled with New Orleans R&B, soulful jazz, funk and groove as The Bonafides take over the Marquee Club.
The Bonafides built their sound around the deep musical traditions of New Orleans — the irresistible rhythms, blues, soul and piano-driven R&B associated with legends like Fats Domino, Professor Longhair and Allen Toussaint. But this is a band that refuses to stay inside one musical box.
Their repertoire stretches from classic Crescent City rhythm & blues into jazz, funk and soul, with influences ranging from Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock and Horace Silver to unexpected favorites from Steely Dan and Gov’t Mule. The result is a night of music that feels familiar, fresh and seriously fun.
Expect infectious grooves, soulful melodies, tight musicianship and plenty of music designed to make it difficult to sit still. This isn’t background jazz — this is a band with personality.
Come early, grab a table, order dinner and drinks, and settle into the Marquee Club before the band kicks off at 6:30. Our intimate club setting puts you just a few feet from the musicians, giving you the kind of close-up live music experience that simply doesn’t happen in a large concert hall.
