Charles Wheal
Show: 6:30 PM
Get ready for a night of authentic, hard-driving blues when guitarist and vocalist
Charles Wheal takes the stage at the
Empress Marquee Club.
Charles brings together the fire of Chicago blues, the grit of Texas blues and the
smooth swing of the West Coast sound. After developing his craft in London and
Chicago’s historic blues clubs, he made his way to San Francisco and became the
longtime guitarist for Mark Hummel and the Blues Survivors.
Throughout his career, Charles has performed with an extraordinary list of blues
artists, including James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite,
Kim Wilson, Maria Muldaur, Huey Lewis, Rick Estrin, Rod Piazza, Bob Margolin,
Curtis Salgado, Billy Branch, Magic Dick and Anson Funderburgh.
His playing is deeply rooted in blues tradition while remaining energetic, soulful
and built for a live audience. Expect expressive guitar, powerful vocals, deep
grooves and the unmistakable feeling of genuine live blues.
Come early, enjoy dinner and drinks, and settle into the intimate atmosphere of the
Empress Marquee Club before the music begins.
