Michael Skinner

Get ready for a night of powerful vocals, deep grooves and authentic Bay Area blues when Michael Skinner & The Final Touch Band take the stage at the intimate Empress Marquee Club.

Michael Skinner is a Richmond-raised drummer and vocalist whose music is rooted in gospel, old-school rhythm and blues, funk and the unmistakable West Coast blues tradition. He began playing drums at age five alongside his mother and aunt in Bay Area churches.

By age ten, Michael was performing with The Spiritual Corinthians, featuring his older brother Melvin “Bluesman” Bolden on bass and future blues star Joe Louis Walker on guitar.

Over a career spanning decades, Michael has earned recognition as both a commanding singer and an accomplished drummer. His honors include the Bay Area Blues Society Drummer of the Year award and recognition as Best New Blues Artist.

Michael’s gospel-trained voice can move from smooth and soulful to raw and commanding, while the band delivers the kind of crisp, propulsive groove that makes it difficult to stay seated.

Come early for dinner and drinks, then settle in for an evening of blues, soul, R&B and funk performed by seasoned Bay Area musicians in one of Vallejo’s most intimate live-music settings.
