A multiple gold recording artist brings real blues-rock history to the Marquee Club

A true Bay Area blues-rock legend is coming to the Empress Marquee Club.
Johnny “V” Vernazza is not just another guitarist — he is part of the real history of American blues and rock.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Daly City, Johnny came up during the explosive Bay Area music scene of the 1960s, when the Fillmore, Avalon Ballroom, North Beach clubs, and Golden Gate Park concerts were helping shape a whole generation of music.

Johnny went on to share stages and studios with some of the greats, including Luther Tucker, Sunnyland Slim, Chuck Berry, Steve Miller, Gregg Allman, George Thorogood, Charlie Daniels, Commander Cody, Norton Buffalo, and Elvin Bishop.

Gold Records. Slide Guitar. Bay Area Blues-Rock.
Johnny’s work with the Elvin Bishop Band led to six albums, gold records, major touring, and the huge hit “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” His dual lead and slide guitar helped define a bluesy rock sound that still holds up today.

This is the real deal: fiery slide guitar, deep blues feel, rock-and-roll energy, and a lifetime of stories in every note. Johnny Vernazza has spent decades on stages with world-class musicians, and now you can experience him up close in one of Vallejo’s most intimate live music rooms.
