Side Hustle — CD Release Party

Friday, February 6 • 8:00 PM • Empress Theatre

Join us for a special night celebrating the release of Side Hustle,
the second album from Bay Area keyboardist, composer, and jazz musician
Greg Rahn. Five years after his debut Rent Party, Rahn returns with
eight original compositions that honor the musical icons and styles that have shaped him
over more than five decades.

About the Album

Recorded with an A-list lineup of San Francisco musicians, Side Hustle delivers
deep grooves, a party-ready vibe, and authentic feel across funk, shuffle blues, fusion,
zydeco, and Cuban songo.

Rahn’s signature versatility shines as he moves effortlessly between electric piano,
organ, synthesizer, keytar, and even melodica — powering through New Orleans funk
(“Chillin’ at the Crawdaddy Lounge”), Louisiana zydeco (“Slap Yo Mama”), fiery fusion
(“Chick Flick”), Cuban rhythms (“Songo Blues”), and the infectious title track.

The Band

Greg Rahn — keys & vocals
Ruben Brunt — additional keys
Frank Acosta — guitar & vocals
Randy Hayes — drums & vocals
Daryl Anders — bass

Special Guests

Chris Cain — one of the most respected blues guitarists of his generation,
known for his soulful phrasing and international acclaim.

Juan Escovedo — bringing rhythmic fire and the deep musical legacy of the
legendary Escovedo family.

Mick Mestek — veteran drummer who joined Tower of Power in
1986, recorded on their album Power, toured extensively during their mid-’80s
resurgence, later reunited with the band for their 40th Anniversary at The Fillmore,
and a longtime contributor of the Chris Cain Band.

This is more than a CD release — it’s a gathering of exceptional musicians,
deep grooves, and shared musical history, brought together for one unforgettable night.
