THE BOBBY YOUNG PROJECT
Get ready for a powerful night of Oakland blues, deep soul and guitar-driven rock when
The Bobby Young Project returns to the Empress Marquee Club.
Led by veteran guitarist and vocalist Bobby Young, this award-winning Bay Area band brings together decades of musical history, road-tested chemistry and the kind of raw, heartfelt playing that cannot be manufactured.
His sound reflects the influence of guitar giants including
Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Sly Stone and
Freddie Stone, while remaining grounded in his own blend of blues, soul, funk and rock.
Across his career, Bobby has performed or recorded with an extraordinary roster of artists, including
John Lee Hooker, Zakiya Hooker, Maria Muldaur, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Michael Henderson, The Natural Four, Richard “Dimples” Fields, Jimmy McCracklin, John Lee Hooker Jr. and
E.C. Scott.

The Bobby Young Project officially formed in 1997, bringing together musicians who had already shared stages and recording sessions for decades. Their mission is simple: create music that reaches the heart and soul.
That mission helped earn the group recognition as
Blues Band of the Year from the Northern California Entertainment Music Awards.
Expect burning guitar solos, soulful vocals, deep-pocket grooves and a set that moves naturally between slow blues, hard-driving rock, funk rhythms and emotional soul.
Come early, grab dinner and drinks, then settle into the Empress Marquee Club for an up-close evening with one of the Bay Area’s most respected blues bands.
