The After Party Everyone Will Be Talking About!The Empress Theatre has teamed up with Frazier Trager Presents to host an amazing after party featuring Eric Martin “The voice of Mr. Big”, and New Monsoon an incredible festival band who started off the Mare Island Dock of Bay Festival , will be back at the After Party to start the late night Jam! Eric Martin is best-known as the lead singer of rock quartet Mr. Big, he is a seasoned music veteran whom started his music career in San Francisco in 1976. Martin formed the band 415 with some high school friends and the band became popular fast opening for acts like Billy Squier, Molly Hatchet, and the Marshall Tucker Band. Signed to Elektra Records, 415 changed its name to Eric Martin Band and issued the debut Sucker for a Pretty Face in 1983. Martin contributed the track “I Can’t Stop the Fire” to the movie soundtrack Teachers and released a self-titled solo album in 1985, which spawned a minor pop hit with “Information.” In 1988, Martin joined forces with bass player Billy Sheehan, guitarist Paul Gilbert, and drummer Pat Torpey to form Mr. Big. The reputations of the players, particularly amongst fellow musicians, generated immediate interest and the band was signed to Atlantic Records in 1989. Martin found success as Mr. Big had several pop hits, including “Just Take My Heart,” a cover of Cat Stevens’ “Wild World,” and the number one “To Be With You”. New Monsoon is a San Francisco rock quintet New Monsoon is the collaborative vehicle for the vocal and instrumental prowess of founding members Bo Carper (acoustic guitar and banjo), Jeff Miller (electric guitar) and Phil Ferlino (keys). They have toured with String Cheese Incident, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Umphrey’s McGee, Moe, The Wailers, etc. and are a featured headliner in venues such as the Fillmore (SF), Gothic Theater (Denver), and the Warehouse (Houston). They perform at marquee festivals like Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Langerado, High Sierra, Austin City Limits and many others.
